First you multiply each side by 10. Your new equation is: 5v-4 = 40/5. This simplifies to 5v-4=8.
Next, you add four to each side, getting 5v = 8+4 or 5v = 12.
Finally, you divide each side by 5. The answer is: v = 12/5
