In this case we have to have a common denominator in order to compare to the two fractions.
We know that 2 × 6= 12
So multiply the numerator and denominator by 6

(1)/(2) ×
(6)/(6) =
(6)/(12)
Therefore, the amount of honey needed is
(6)/(12) teaspoons
So in total 6 bees are needed to make
(1)/(2) teaspoons of honey because we know that
(6)/(12) is the same as half
