There are 6 times as many dogs as cats. If the total number of dogs and cats is 21. How many dogs are there? Show your work

I say divide 21 with 6 and you get 3.5 so round it and you get 3.Then subtract 3 from 21, so the answer is 3 cats ad 18 dogs.
