A rectangle has a perimeter of 58 inches. Find the dimensions of the rectangle if the length is 3 inches more than the width.

P = 58 inches;
l = 3 + w ; where l = the length ; w = the width ; P = the perimeter ;
But, P = 2l + 2w ;
Then. 58 = 2( 3 + w ) + 2w ;
58 = 6 + 2w + 2w ;
58 = 6 + 4w ;
52 = 4w ;
w = 52÷4;
w = 13 inches ;
l = 3 + 13 = 16 inches .
