Why did slavery continue after the revolution

It continued existing because the entire economy depended on it. The farms and ranches were huge and with a free workforce, there was no need to spend money as much so people amassed large amounts of wealth. This made the country rich and kept the economy pumping strong. When slavery was abolished, most of the plantations fell into disarray and eventually the slave owners lost everything.
