Betty gets paid 25 cents per paper to deliver newspapers in her neihborhood. When Betty is sick, she pays her brother Bob 10 cents per paper to deliver for her. If Bobby makes $7.80 filling in for Betty, how much money does Betty get to keep for that day?

7.80 = 0.1 * 78

So her brother delivered 78 papers, and she gave him $7.80.

Betty would get paid
78 * 0.25 = 19.50

And from her 19.5, she gives her brother 7.80

So, at the end she has 19.50 - 7.80 = $11.70

She gets to keep $11.70 at the end of the day.
