People settled on New Netherlands in 1614, and it became part of the Dutch Republic in 1924.

Also, interesting fact, New Netherlands is now known as New York.

Hope that helped :)

The New Netherlands ( a Dutch Colony in America with the Capital in New Amsterdam) dates back to 1614, when it was established. In the beginning it was a very small colony, and it was settled only slowly, but in 1650 it experienced a major growth.
