What information do lines of longitude on a map give us

The lines of longitude on a map gives us the east-west positioning of a point on the Earth's surface. Lines of longitude are geographic coordinates and measurements are given in degrees. The other geographic measurement is latitude, which gives the location of something according to it's north-south geographical positioning.
