The "Trent", the "Alabama" and the "Laird Shipyard" incidents all helped to convince England to remain neutral. This was an incident which happened during the Civil War. England was supposed to remain neutral, however they built Confederate ships. Nevertheless, these ships were never used as England was routinely encouraged not involve itself in the war.
