Sun Yat Sen promoted nationalism in China because he developed a political philosophy which he used while in power called the Three Principles of the People. This included nationalism, where China would be unified as one, without the domination of any other foreign force; democracy and the people's livelihood, which was seen through an economic perspective. Sun Yat-Sen promoted nationalism in China because he felt it would bring China together and propel it forward (advancing it).
