In 1965, Dr. Verghese Kurien organized the National Dairy Development Board in India. This organization brought together dairy cooperatives. A cooperative is a kind of organization that is owned and operated by a group of people. Dr. Kurien's organization helped small farmers make more money and brought more milk products into the Indian market.
