dermis and epidermis both are the layers of the skin. Epidermis is upper layer while dermis is lower layer.

To begin with, both are layers of the body's largest organ (the liver is the largest internal organ by volume, but when the whole body is taken into consideration, the skin is ), the skin. If I am not mistaken, both the dermis and the epidermis contain hair. By this, I mean that the hair follicle and the hair root are located in the dermis, and the rest of the hair, known as the shaft travels trough the epidermis. The pores also start in the dermis and continue up until the epidermis. If you also need differences, the dermis is living tissue, while the epidermis actually consists of dead  cells.
