What is the importance of federalism in the constitution

The advantage of Federalism is that national issues are handled by the National Government: For example 1. National Currency--money 2. Interstate Trade 3. Armed forces 4. Foreign Relations--treaties. While local issues are handled by local government. For example: Local is called State--the 50 states. 1. Education 3. Driving laws. 2. Marriage/divorce laws 4. Alcohol laws. It allows each level of government to operate where it is believed that the people's best interests will be served. Hope that helps.

The Constitution replaced the Articles of Confederation because it held tru to the ideas of federalism--that the main power of the nation should come from a strong central government, not the individual states.
