Why did ancient civilizations create gods

Answer:Well its not ancient civilizations created gods, its that they believed in them. From their perspective, bad things happen because they upset the "gods" or good things happen because they are being righteous. They believed they saw gods and heck theres even constellations that further helped them create other gods. So its more of a matter of opinion, but from what i can tell, I think that they didnt create them, more of had evidence to believe that these gods were real.
