Like rods, each cone cell has an outer segment, an inner segment, a cell body, and a synaptic terminal. The outer segment consists of the numerous membrane disks containing the photopigments. The inner segment contains the cell's endoplasmic reticulum, golgi apparatus, and mitochondria.
