Why did england want to begin a colony on north America eastern shore

They wanted to find gold and other resources.

Mainly for land and natural resources. There was an aboundance of natural resources, mainly trees, which would be used to create more ships for the British Navy. The British didn't have trees on their island at this time because they were all cut down and processed into ships for the Navy. This colony would also help them expand their control of the Western world and on the new world
