The function of an ADP, or Adenosine diphosphate molecule, is to assist in the flow of energy throughout the cell. The basic structure of the molecule itself is made up of three main parts - a sugar backbone, which is attached one adenine molecule and two phosphate groups, which is then bonded to a 5' carbon atom of ribose.
