In the American colonies why were boycotts an effective way of protesting british policies

This was one of few legal ways they could actually protest. They did this two protest the policies and taxes put upon the colonist. They were effective because they made the British realize they had to fix something if the British wanted to sell products.

The colonies did not like the way they were being treated, so they rebelled against the British.
