New England's type of farming is rough. It has rough soil and too much winds that kill crops.

Because of the rocky soil, farming in New England was difficult. There were also very rough winters that killed most of the crops. The Middle Colonies, however, were known for their farming, in which they farmed tobacco and wheat.
