Why did the early attempts to colonize the americas fail?

Well the Native Americans were holding down the fort pretty well. so sunken ships found along the coast have arrows stuck in them dating back to that time period. It wasn't until the Europeans had guns that the Native Americans were unequipped to protect the Americas.

Very cold weather, lack of supplies, disease, hostile natives and unknown habitat all made it hard for American colonization.
