How are the landforms of Europe both an advantage and disadvantage to life in Europe?

Many features help, and don't help Europe with it's life.
The alps are a great example.
The alps are a prime spot for tourism, but they don't help travel at all.

Advantage- Being a huge mass of land createds
Easier transportation among neighbouring countries.
Able to have a more transitional climate allowing more different types of crops to be grown.
More cultural mixture.

Disadvantage- In real danger in times of wars cause surrounded by so many other countries and borders.
Diseases spread easily as there's no physical barrier.
Immigration and influence from other neighbouring countries.
