Esperanza buys the things she needs at Mr. Yakota's store, including a tiny piñata that's shaped like a donkey. The piñata is for mama, and Esperanza fills it with candy.
(But then later Esperanza gives the piñata full of candy to the children of the family that have been kicked out of their camp).
