Using the data below, what is the equation for the line of best fit? Remember, put your answer in y = ax + b form and round any decimals to three places.

Patient Calories Wt. loss/week lbs.
1 1500 2
2 1200 3
3 1800 1
4 2100 .5
5 2400 .75

Using the program microsoft excel, we can plot the points here and use the trendline function to see what would be the possible equation that would fit the data above. Doing such, the highest regression that would make sense I could get is 0.4997 where the order of the equation is 4. It is expressed as

y = -7.6992x^4 + 103.59x^3 - 316.35x^2 - 155.82x + 2351.5

Hope this helps.
