Why did many Europeans in the 1400s want to find a way to get to East Asia?

Because over there they have valuable stuff like, gold, treasure, silk and stuff like that

Many Europeans in the 1400's wanted to find a route to get to East Asia because East Asia had a copious amount of gold, jewels, silk, and spices. A sea route would be more efficient than a land route.
