The main reason that the colonists resented the acts imposed by the British Parliament on to them was that they felt they were being wrongly taxed without a proper voice in their government or "representation." This led to the coining of the phrase, "taxation without representation" which was a major slogan of the colonists against the taxation policies of the British Government.
