When we draw conclusions about ideas, beyond those we have actually tested within our experiments, we are using: theories hypotheses generalizations evidence

Theories, I believe. A hypothesis would be idea from an experiments, evidence would be items to prove a thought, and generalization would be to 'generalize' something, or normalize.
