How did Greek city-states apply and limit democracy?

Hi

The Ancient Greek practiced something called "Direct democracy " in which instead of having elected officials, each eligible citizens had a direct say in the affairs of the state.

This democracy was limited because only males with military experience could vote.

It gave all the power to the adult male citizens who met fortnightly in assembly to make laws and direct a council to carry out its wishes
