Why was there a fear of communism and communist subversion after world war two

After World War Two the USSR took over many countries that had previously been under Nazi rule and made them communist. These countries included places like Poland, Austria and Czechoslovakia. Countries like Britain and America were worried that they to were going to be taken over by communist rule which was something they disagreed with as they were capitalist countries.
