Why CEOs make very high salaries, while their administrative assistants make much less.

As CEO's make the final decisions, and thus are accountable for their failure or successes, Administration will generally stay regardless of current management. Thus so CEO's have no one to fall back on so they bear the solo responsibility for their action.
