Lenicia is a waitress and just received $12.45 for a tip for a meal that cost $56.75. Is the percentage of her tip above or below the standard 15%?

That is 8.51 which means it is over 4 dollars above the standard pay. All you have to do is mainly make the 15% into a decimal (which means to move the decimal places twice to the right so it is .15) and then multiplying it by 56.75. There it would show you how much it is for the supposed to be 15% tax which is 8.51. Since they gave her 12.45, then yes they gave her more than expected.

Her tip is above the standard 15%. $56.75×0.15=$8.51 which would be a 15% tip.
