Anaphase and Metaphase both have spindle fibers, yet they have different functions (metaphase) is used to align the chromosomes along the equator of the cell and the other(anaphase) has the spindle fibers shorten to move the chromosomes.

Mitosis is a cell division in different and consecutive steps, prophase, metaphase, anaphase, and telophase, to make to cells from one with an equal set of chromosomes. Anaphase is when centromeres split, and sister chromatids are pulled to the opposite side of the cell while metaphase occurs when the chromosomes move to the center of the cell. Despite this difference, both of these steps have spindle fibers.
