Martin Luther King Jr. was a champion of non-violence in tackling discrimination, racism, segregation, and racial oppression in the United States in the middle of the 20th century. Martin Luther King Jr. supported the use methods of non-violence such as popular protests, sit-ins, speeches, petitions, and strikes in order to promote greater recognition and understanding of the injustices incurred by African Americans in the United States at this time.
