How did college and high school change around the turn of the 20th century??

The number of colleges and universities were coming up in different States. The demand for the high skill workers, researcher, professionals led to a change in the educational pattern. Technical colleges were coming up along with graduate programs in colleges which were more comparable to the previous century.
