Emma took 35 pictures of flowers on a nature walk and an additional 3 pictures of each bird she saw. She took a total of 83 pictures. Which equation can be used to find the number of birds, x, that Emma saw on her walk?

The equation would be 35 + 3x= 83
though by sloving it it would be like this:

35+3x=83

so what i would do is take 35 and change it to a -35 by putting it under the 35 and 83. Cross out the two 35's one the left cause you don't need them then take 83-35 which would equal to 48. So your next step would be like this: 3x=48

Take 3 and put it under both 3x and 48 cause you are going to divide 48 by 3 and before you do cross out the 3x and 3 cause again you don't need it. Now divide 48/3 = 16 and there is your answer.
