Narrative writing uses and reflects upon your own personal experiences and descriptive writing shows what happened.

A narrative is like you are telling a story.  A description is when you're just describing someone (kind of like: "she has blonde hair and brown eyes"), as opposed to, "The girl with blonde hair and brown eyes walked quickly down the sidewalk, looking side to side.", or something like that.
