Hawaiian settlers negatively affected the islands after the 1700's when Polynesians brought a number of species of animals, plants, and vegetables with them. Some of the animal and plant life that the Polynesians brought include banana, coconut, sugarcane, chickens, pigs, dogs, and taro.
