What is similar about the Hebrew Bible and the Epic of Gilgamesh?

Well, the Flood stories in both have stark similarities:

- In both, the deity or deities desolate earth because of man's wickedness.

- A chosen righteous man received some form of inspiration, one from God and one from a dream, to build an ark and save select people and animals

- The arks were similar except in shape

- In both, it rained for many days

- A bird was sent out in both to scout for dry land

- Both men from the stories set shore on a mountain

- Both offered sacrifices and were blessed by God/gods

- God/gods decide not to desolate earth with a flood again
