Remembering that cells in the epidermis get all their nutrients via diffusion from the blood vessels in the dermis, why would it be uselful for the connection between the two layers to have more surface area? (Written response)

I think the reason why it would be useful for the connection between the two layers to have more surface area is so it would be better in vascularization process.
In which a cell started to develop and form a blood vessel
