In three more years, Angelo’s grandfather will be six times as old as Angelo was last year. When

Angelo’s present age is added to his grandfather’s present age, the total is 68. How old is each
person now?

Let Angelo's present age be x and his grandfather's age be y.

x+y=68

y=68−x

In three more years, his grandfather will be six times as old as ANgelo last year :—

y+3=6(x−1)

y+3=6x−6

y+3+6=6x

y+9=6x

68−x+9=6x {y=68−x}

6x+x=68+9

7x=77

x=77÷7=11

Thus, Angelo's age = x = 11 years

And, Angelo's grandfather's age =

y = 68 - x = 68 - 11 = 57 years

Angelo's age is 11, his grandfather's age is 57
