What motivates Odysseus to tell a lie to the Cyclops?

He knew the cyclops was a moron so he tricked him since he is a god anyways

To trick the Cyclops. He knew that when he blinded the Cyclops that he would call his brothers for help. But since he yelled, "Nobody has blinded me!" they didn't come to help him so Odysseus and his men could sneak past the blinded Cyclops.
