Why did the middle colonies have a more diverse population then either new England or the south

Lol I just learned about this in school. From my given knowledge lately, the middle colonies such as Boston had many seaports and many immigrants came through that way. Also, New York had Ellis Island, a port where a bunch of immigrants came.

It's because in the middle colonies more immigrants from other countries went in to that specific area, because it was much more busy than other colonies....and a higher chance of good job capabilities
