How dose the decay of the biomass contribute to the nitrogen in earth

When a biomass is decaying, decomposers are eating these and use it as their food. As a byproduct from these organisms, they release nitrogen to the earth in the form of nitrates or nitrates increasing the amount of nitrogen present in the Earth. Hope this helps.
