I understand your struggle, but it's pretty easy!

First, you need to combine your like terms, which in this case will be 2b and 7b. To do this, you need to get them both on one side of the equal sign. So, we'll move the 2b to the other side by subtracting it from both sides (since it is a positive). REMEMBER: What you do to one side, you MUST do to the OTHER!!

So, the equation should look like this:

6=5b-2

Time to isolate the variable! Now, we will add 2 to both sides, leaving the 5b alone.

8=5b

Since we are multiplying the 5 and b in this equation, to cancel out the 5 we will divide it on both sides.

1.6=b
