Why did the british want to expand control into the ohio river valley in the mid 1700s

In the midle of the 1700s, the British, especially the fur traders moved into Ohio River  Valley and claimed the land from French fur traders and Indians. The British want to expand fur trade with the indians, and to take business away from their rivals. So that was the main reason.
