How did macbeth and lady macbeth plan to murder the king

Answer: Lady Macbeth will make sure the guards are drugged allowing Macbeth to sneak in and stab the king to death

They were going to get the guards drunk and when they fall asleep to kill the king, then place the murder weapon with the guards to make it look like they did it. (Of course Mcbeth forgot to then put the knife with the guards making their plan fail)
