What is the difference between the basolateral membrane and the apical membrane?

Basicly apical means that it is facing the lumen (of the intestine for example, while the basolateral means all rest (the basal, ("rear") side plus the lateral sides facing the rest of the cells).

What is the difference between the basolateral membrane and the apical membrane?
