x = listeners
y = employees

x + y = 138
x = 5y

5y + y = 138
6y = 138
y = 138/6
y = 23 <===employees

x = 5y
x = 5(23)
x = 115 <== listeners

Answer:

Explanation:

There are 5 times as many tickets given to listeners as to employees. This means that for every 6 tickets given away, 1 went to an employee.

Set up a proportion in terms of employee tickets to total tickets and solve.

Therefore, 23 tickets were given to employees.
