The Hungarian endocrinologis Hans Selye developed a stress model through which he gives a scientific explanation for biological “stress”.

The Resistance stage in the Hans Selye's stress model is also known as the "coping stage". In this stage the body resists and foccuses resources against the stressor and remains on alert, while the parasympathetic nervous system attempts to return many physiological functions to normal levels.

The correct answer is the 2nd stage. The general stress response according to Hans Selye is that we observe a stressor in our environment which causes a certain change, this is followed by the coping stage where we're trying to adapt to our current situation, this then depends on how we percieve the stressful situation.
