It is the diplomatic policy by which a nation tries to avoid alliances with other nations, to prevent itself from getting drawn into wars. especially the wars which are not related to its territorial defense. The US government followed this policy before world war two. The US policy of non-interventionism was called Isolationism. It can be defined as its reluctance to become involved in European alliances and wars. Americans used to believe that their perspective of the world was different and they can advance the cause of freedom and democracy even without war.
