The teepee was a light weight, simple home, and it could have been literally packed and carried away with ease to another place.

Because of this characteristics of the teepee, it was a perfect home for the Native Americans of the plains, because they were nomads that were moving from one place to another in accordance to the movement of the bison herds, and the change of seasons. So an easy to care and set up home was ideal for them.
